Building products can represent a significant source of indoor air pollution caused by volatile organic compounds (VOCs)  and for this reason their ingredients (which could be released indoors) must be evaluated for health risks. To provide the foundation for a uniform and understandable health evaluation of building products in Germany, the "Committee for the Health Evaluation of Building Products" (AgBB) established five testing criteria from which it created an evaluation scheme for VOC emissions from building products relevant to interiors. According to a voluntary analysis performed at the EUROFINS Environment A/S testing lab, the BIONI Hygienic® and BIONI Nature® interior paints meet all AgBB requirements. Moreover, due to their significantly low amount of VOCs, they set new standards in terms of hygienic indoor air safety.
